Trustee recruitment

Radical and ground-breaking John Feeney, 1839 - 1905, personally championed the arts and heritage both in his life and death. As the founder of the Birmingham Daily Mail and the proprietor of the Birmingham Daily Post and the Birmingham Weekly Post, he demonstrated immense civic pride for the city and foresaw and supported the cultural powerhouse it continues to become.

The John Feeney Charitable Trust seeks trustees to join the current committee of business and arts professionals to continue this legacy.

With a widening and diverse grants programme in support of the arts, heritage and open spaces in or near Birmingham, a unique record of supporting the creation of new music and in the expansion of this success a commissioning programme to the wider arts community and annual Fellowships it is an exciting time to join the trust.

We are seeking to appoint three trustees with skills, connections and interests in one or more the following areas:

  • Financial management and/or accounting

  • Commercial property

  • Investment

  • Youth arts

  • Dance

  • Music

  • Heritage

  • Open Spaces

Trustees will be expected to have a demonstrable interest in and commitment to Birmingham’s cultural life and to be recognised by their peers regarding their professional achievements.

Trustees are expected to attend the annual meeting in May and sit on at least one skills and experience-appropriate sub-committee with a commitment of up to two meetings a year.
