Deer’s Leap for Joy is a community-focused project designed to make Deer’s Leap Wood Nature Reserve in Edgbaston, Birmingham, more accessible, welcoming, and engaging for local communities. The project combined environmental engagement activities with improved interpretation and volunteer involvement to encourage more people to access and enjoy the reserve safely.

Funding from the John Feeney Charitable Trust supported:

• Delivery of free family-friendly community engagement events linked to nature

connection and citizen science

• Volunteer preparation days to improve accessibility and readiness of the site

• Development and design of a permanent interpretation board to improve visitor understanding and engagement with the reserve.
